About Yuri

Hi, I’m Yuri Buzzi an Italian actor and acting coach with over 20 years of international experience across film, television, commercials and stage.

I trained in acting and directing in Rome before continuing my studies in London, and my work has taken me across international sets, campaigns and productions. I am currently on ITV and BritBox in A Taste for Murder, playing Fabio Pigozzi.

I have also appeared in Emily in Paris for Netflix as Luca, the Roman realtor alongside Lily Collins, and I have recently been working on set for Hallmark movies. Over the years, I have worked with productions and brands including BBC, Apple, Amazon, Disney, Bacardi, eBay and 20th Century Fox, both in front of and behind the camera.

I started teaching because I know how vulnerable acting can feel. Auditions, self-tapes, monologues and performance can bring up pressure, fear and self-doubt, especially when you care deeply about the work.

My approach is honest, practical and supportive. I help students understand the character, connect emotionally, listen truthfully and bring more presence, confidence and humanity to their performance.

I do not believe in forcing a performance. I believe acting becomes powerful when it feels alive, specific and truthful and mostly when you embrace/own your presence before saying the first line.

Whether you are just starting out, preparing for an audition, or wanting to grow as an actor, I would be happy to support you.

My acting lessons are practical, personal and designed around you.

Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for drama school, working on a monologue, improving your self-tapes, or getting ready for a professional audition, each session will help you feel more confident, connected and truthful in your performance.

In our lessons, we may work on:

Acting technique for screen and stage Audition preparation
Self-tapes and camera work
Monologues and scene study Improvisation
Character development Voice, body and emotional connection
Listening and reacting truthfully
Confidence and performance anxiety

A typical session usually begins with a short check-in to understand where you are emotionally and what you want to work on.
From there, we move into practical exercises, text or scene work, camera practice, improvisation or audition coaching, depending on your goal.

My method combines acting technique, real on-set experience and transformational coaching. I do not believe in “pretending harder” or forcing emotion. I help you find truthful choices, connect to the character, listen deeply and bring more of yourself into the role.

For self-tapes and auditions, we can work on script analysis, emotional preparation, camera presence, pacing, stillness, eyeline, choices, and how to make your performance feel specific and alive.

For beginners, I create a safe and encouraging space where you can explore acting without judgement, build confidence and discover your natural presence.

For more experienced actors, I help refine choices, remove habits, deepen emotional truth and make the work more grounded, personal and memorable.

My goal is for you to leave each session with more clarity, confidence and practical tools you can use immediately in auditions, rehearsals, performances and self-tapes.

Acting is not about becoming someone else. It is about bringing more truth, imagination and courage to the moment.

  • When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

I started practicing 10 years ago, when I discovered the powerful feeling of fulfilment that helping people in achieving their goals was giving me. It is there that I implemented my knowledge in acting and directing along with the skills of mentoring and coaching. In particular my interest has been working with people who are at an impasse in their lives and they would like to discover and express their full potential.
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

I respect Matthew McConaughey a lot as both an actor and inspirational person. Daniel Day Lewis is astonishing with his work on characters in movies. Less Brown an amazing motivational speaker, really good in mixing humour with development and personal growth.
  • What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?

To succeed in being an actor, public speaker or any other work or passion out there, I advise something that could help you to get a more clear direction and it's to strongly know the "why" are you doing something (the motive)? How this is making you a better person than you are right know? How are you going to know when you have achieved the goal that you are pursuing? Those are the basic questions that I advise to ask to yourself before you even start thinking of your training, formation. Qualities and skills can be achieved when your mind has a clear vision.
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

One of the most valuable advice that has been helping me a lot in really difficult moments is to create a space/moment in your routine where you can pause and completely be yourself, in order to recharge mind and body. I usually start with an exercise to reconnect myself with the present moment and pause before I can push all force ahead again. Slow, deep, long breaths can help you maintain a sense of calm or help you return to a calmer state and balance. Once you find your breath, go through the following steps to help ground yourself:

5: Acknowledge FIVE things you see around you. It could be a pen, a spot on the ceiling, anything in your surroundings.

4: Acknowledge FOUR things you can touch around you. It could be your hair, a pillow, or the ground under your feet and feel if you can the texture.

3: Acknowledge THREE things you hear. This could be any external sound. If you can hear your belly rumbling that counts! Focus on things you can hear outside of your body.

2: Acknowledge TWO things you can smell. Maybe you are in your office and smell pencil, or maybe you are in your bedroom and smell a pillow. If you need to take a brief walk to find a scent you could smell soap in your bathroom, or nature outside.

1: Acknowledge ONE thing you can taste. What does the inside of your mouth taste like-gum, coffee, or the sandwich from lunch?
  • How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

My passion is a constant fulfilling buzz of discoveries, that feeling of freedom of expression that doesn't hold back.
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I was really proud when I started my career, the fact that I signed a life changing contract with a big brand that helped me financially and in my personal growth to let me discover better that success and money are not always what makes you happy and fulfilled. I am really proud of my coaching and mentoring business, the creative agency Four55, with my business partner in London and we are now launching a new luxury accessories brand Buzzi Italia.
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Yes I love the possibility of a double way growth, i learn a lot from my students, they have really powerful ambitions.
  • Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

My secret is my quality of being genuine.
