About Brian
I am a teacher, composer, performer and music director with a doctoral degree in composition from the University of Michigan. I completed all grades of Conservatory piano before entering university, and studied piano performance throughout my undergraduate degree, taken at Queen's University.

My approach to teaching piano is to work with each student to develop goals that help them become the musician they want to be; whether that includes the Conservatory approach, or is more based on popular music. I believe that musicians need to understand the music they are playing, so I also work with students to develop their reading and theory skills.

Brian has been a great teacher to both my 5 and 9 year old. He very patiently listens as my 5 year old tells him a story about the day before continuing with the lesson. He gives positive feedback to my 9 year old when he corrects himself for the 5 th time and encourages him that he is still headed in the right direction. It has been a wonderful introduction to the piano for both my kids and they are both eager to learn because they enjoy learning from Brian.
