About Umar
I am an experienced Data Engineer with over five years of experience using Python, SQL, SPARQL, Databricks, AWS, Azure and many other tools. I also taught a Data Analytics bootcamp through Rice University. Fun fact: I started my career as a Lawyer and am still licensed to practice in the State of New York. I transitioned to Data Science after working at an AMLAW 100 firm on Wall Street, where I first got started working on large transactional datasets related to securities litigation. I fell in love with coding and discovered I was good at it, so I switched over to Data Engineering and went on to work at some of the largest companies in the world!

I am a firm believer in learning by doing, so you can look forward to a lot of hands-on coding using real-world data! I will cover a specific topic and go over the theory briefly and then dive right into writing code. Along the way, I will show you neat tips, tricks and plenty of advice on how to handle data out in the wild! I can teach at any level up to undergraduate, and I am exceptionally good at gently easing in absolute beginners into a subject that can be intimidating at times. But trust me, I know tons of ways to get you excited to write code yourself!
