About Benjamin
I’m a self-taught digital photographer with over a decade of real-world experience, and I’ve always had a strong interest in teaching and sharing practical knowledge. Over the years, I’ve seen how confusing and outdated photography education can be, especially when it doesn’t reflect how the industry actually works today. I’ve worked alongside people formally studying photography who were taught film processing without learning how to shoot film, or how to properly edit digital images, despite digital photography being the commercial standard.
That disconnect is what motivates me to teach. I focus on modern digital photography, helping students understand how their camera works, how settings interact, and how to apply that knowledge in real shooting situations. I enjoy breaking complex ideas down into clear, logical explanations and encouraging students to experiment, ask questions, and learn through hands-on experience. My goal is to help people feel confident using their camera and understand photography in a way that’s practical, relevant, and empowering.

My tutoring approach is hands-on, example-driven, and focused on real understanding rather than memorising settings. I teach students how their camera actually works, explaining shutter speed, aperture, and ISO through clear visual examples so they can see how each change affects exposure, depth of field, and image quality. I strongly encourage students to use their own camera during lessons, as learning through trial, error, and observation is the most effective way to build confidence.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are interactive, relaxed, and tailored to the student’s level. I welcome questions and believe there are no “stupid questions” when learning something technical. I am completely self-taught with over a decade of real-world photography experience, actively working with digital cameras in event, corporate, product, and landscape photography. Lessons are suitable for absolute beginners, beginners with a camera, and early-intermediate photographers aged 16 and above. Teaching is primarily online.
