About Vaanya
I’m a guitar tutor with 12 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music (Guitar). My teaching combines academic training with real-world playing across genres like rock, classical, folk, and blues. I love helping both young learners and adult students discover the joy of playing guitar. Every lesson is designed to build confidence, strengthen technique, and make music feel accessible. I focus on the fundamentals—good posture, hand positioning, and clear tone—while also exploring creative expression through improvisation and song interpretation. Students don’t just learn chords and scales; they learn how to bring songs to life. I’ve worked with complete beginners picking up a guitar for the first time, as well as more experienced players aiming to refine their style. Each student gets a plan that fits their goals, whether that’s jamming at home, performing on stage, or preparing for auditions. My approach blends structure and fun, mixing practice drills with music students genuinely want to play. Over time, they gain not only skill but also the confidence to perform, create, and experiment. For me, teaching guitar isn’t just about technique—it’s about guiding students to connect with music and enjoy the journey of becoming a guitarist.

My guitar teaching approach is all about helping students grow into confident, expressive players. I start with strong foundations—good body posture, relaxed hand positions, and correct picking and strumming techniques. These basics make playing easier and prevent tension from holding them back. I guide students through mental preparation techniques to calm nerves before practice, auditions, or recitals. This helps them focus, stay positive, and enjoy the process instead of feeling stressed. Finger independence is another key part of my lessons. I use simple but effective drills to strengthen control, speed, and accuracy, which opens the door to more complex riffs and solos. For students exploring fingerstyle, improvisation, or even rebellious, bold guitar styles, I encourage creative expression while keeping technique solid. Together we break down songs, study different genres, and learn how to add personal flair to each performance. Stage readiness is also a big focus—I coach students on how to present themselves with confidence, handle mistakes gracefully, and connect with their audience. Every session blends structure with freedom, letting students master skills while discovering their unique sound. My goal is simple: to make guitar playing a source of confidence, creativity, and pure joy.
