About Marta
I'm Spanish, with a degree in Translation and Interpreting, and I've been working as a freelance translator for over 20 years. I've also taught Spanish both in Spain and abroad, and I've always been interested in the conversational aspect of language learning, since our education systems have prepared us well for written and listening comprehension, but not so much for spoken language. Besides Spanish, I speak Galician (my second native language), French, English, and Portuguese; but I'm also studying Danish, German, Italian, and Russian, so I'm fully aware of the challenges anyone faces when learning or improving a foreign language and how difficult it can sometimes be to overcome the fear and embarrassment of making mistakes. As a translator with over 20 years of experience and a student of several languages, I know how important it is to overcome the fear of speaking in a foreign language. In my classes, we'll dedicate the first few minutes to breaking the ice and briefly chatting about what we'll be doing that day, exploring ways to engage in conversation, always adapting to the level: beginner, intermediate, or advanced. During the main part of the class, we'll focus on discussing the topic of interest in an engaging way, using useful vocabulary and expressions, and introducing cultural aspects that allow you to better understand the country's history and culture. The last part of the class will be dedicated to reviewing together those aspects that could be corrected or improved for future classes, helping you continue to overcome your fear of speaking Spanish. Mistakes are part of the learning process, so making them is inevitable. The sooner we lose the embarrassment of "saying something wrong," the faster we'll learn.
