About Ruby
I am a dedicated piano tutor with over 9 years of experience teaching students both in-person and online. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a piano emphasis, which provides a strong foundation in performance, theory, and musicianship. My teaching philosophy is learner-centered, focusing on active participation, expressive playing, and developing a deep understanding of music. I work with students of all skill levels, from beginners discovering their first notes to advanced players refining technique and expression.
I adapt lessons to each student’s individual needs, combining classical, jazz, pop, and contemporary styles. My lessons blend music theory, history, technical skills, and creative exercises to build comprehensive musicianship. I emphasize practical application of concepts, helping students connect knowledge with their playing. Improvisation, composition, and performance preparation are integrated to encourage creativity and confidence. I also support students preparing for exams such as ABRSM, Rockschool, and A-Levels.
