I believe that a lesson should be entertaining and meaningful for the student, which is why I prefer to work with the songs (or pieces) that he or she chooses. Something we usually do in class is choose a song and adapt it so that the student can play it at a level that matches his or her current ability. You can play any song no matter how difficult it may seem, even if it has no piano in it; the only important thing is to adapt it and, of course, at the beginning that will be my job, but you'll learn how to do it too! I also think it's crucial to understand what you're playing and how you're doing it, so we will analyze the song technically (how to choose the proper fingers, how to coordinate both hands, what are the best hand positions, etc.) and musically (how the melody is composed, why certain notes are combined, etc.).

Perfect! I am an adult piano beginner with some music theory knowledge. Initially I self taught myself piano via YouTube, and then I decided to look for a one-to-one teacher who can fit my working schedule. I have tried a few piano tutors (on-line and face-to-face) through this platform, and the lessons with Sergio gave me the best experience. At the beginning, I was worried that the on-line communication might not be as great as the face-to-face piano teaching. However, Sergio is very professional, and he has great on-line teaching experiences, the communication is surprisingly easy and smooth. We have two classes so far. He encouraged me to learn the piece that I have been dream to play for years but also gave me other pieces to complete my skill sets. He shared his tips in learning / practicing the challenging passages. When I have questions about the fingering of certain parts after the lesson, he responded my emails immediately and answered all the questions I have. Sergio is a really trustworthy teacher because he is really comprehensive, he really cares about he’s students and he explains very well everything and takes time to repeat things if the student didn’t understand.
He is also very funny and is the type of person that is easy to have a good conversation with.In my opinion the last classes were quite good, with Professor Sergio I learned more about what the piano is and a few other things, both techniques, position of the fingers on the piano, etc. Personally, I totally recommend these classes for anyone who wants to learn more about this wonderful instrument
