About Taryna

Hi, I’m Taryna!

Music has been part of my life since I was a child — I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old, and it quickly became one of my favorite ways to express creativity. As an adult, I finally reached a lifelong goal of learning piano as well, which gave me a deep understanding of what it feels like to learn a new instrument later in life.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in education, as well as multiple ESL certifications. With over 10 years of teaching experience working in elementary schools, running a music school, and teaching students online, I’ve developed a teaching approach that is both structured and encouraging.

My background as a teacher helps me break down music concepts in a way that makes them clear, fun, and easy to understand, whether you're just starting out or have prior experience.

As a mom and farmer, I value patience, encouragement, and creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning and making mistakes. Watching students grow in confidence and discover the joy of making music is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

I’m excited to help you begin (or continue) your musical journey!

Learn Guitar by Playing the Songs You Love

My lessons focus on helping students play the songs they love while building a strong musical foundation.

Many of my students start with little or no experience and quickly gain the skills and confidence to play real music.

Many people try to learn guitar but feel stuck because they only memorize a few chords or songs without truly understanding how music works. In my lessons, I guide students step-by-step so they develop the skills and knowledge that make learning new songs easier and more enjoyable over time.

We focus on real music, not just exercises. Through the songs you enjoy, you'll naturally learn important skills like chords, rhythm, technique, and musical understanding.

My Approach

• Lessons are personalized to each student's goals and learning style
• I create a fun, encouraging environment where students feel confident trying new things
• Students learn both practical playing skills and music understanding

What a Typical Lesson Might Include

Reviewing previous songs and answering questions
Learning or improving a song you enjoy
Building skills like chords, strumming, rhythm, or reading music

For younger students, lessons may also include games and creative activities to keep learning engaging and fun.

My goal is to help students not only learn guitar, but also build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.

Whether you're a beginner or looking to grow as a musician, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I’ve loved music since I was very little. It quickly became a way to express myself and block out the harder parts of life. I always wanted to learn piano because of its soft, joyful sound, but I didn’t have the opportunity as a child — so I started with guitar instead. As an adult, I finally learned piano, and it has become one of my favorite instruments to teach and play.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I never grow tired of music that inspires me to be better, work harder, or feel uplifted — especially in rock, pop, country, and gospel genres. If it motivates or comforts me, I can listen to it endlessly.
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

One of the most exciting courses I could teach would be a “Rookie to Rockstar” transformation journey — helping beginners not only learn their instrument but build confidence through it. It’s riveting because it blends technique, mindset, and creativity into one experience. Watching students transform from nervous beginners into expressive, confident musicians is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

The violin. It demands precise pitch recognition, accurate finger placement, and refined control between both hands doing completely different tasks. Even the smallest shift can change the tone entirely. But that’s also what makes it magical — once mastered, the violin communicates emotion like no other instrument.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

Consistency, patience, and passion. I remind my students that small, steady steps lead to incredible results. When you enjoy the process, you naturally want to keep learning, and that’s when true growth happens. I also believe strongly in a growth mindset — anyone can improve if they show up, stay curious, and focus on progress over perfection.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I don’t have any specific musicians I dream of meeting. What I truly love is connecting with people who are passionate about music and hearing the stories that shaped their musical journeys.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

I once had a piano student who had quit lessons before coming to me. Their previous teacher used a very rigid, unforgiving method with no room for self-expression, and the joy of playing disappeared for them. When they started with me, I went at their pace, helped them feel comfortable, and let them choose songs they loved. They’ve been with me for years now and play beautifully.
I’ve seen the same thing happen with guitar students too — strict curriculums can erase the fun and creativity. That’s why I structure my lessons around what they enjoy, while still helping them build strong musical skills.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I make lessons fun, encouraging, and personal. Whether I’m teaching kids or adults, I take time to understand what inspires each student and tailor the lessons to their goals and personality. My goal isn’t just to teach an instrument — it’s to help students fall in love with making music and feel truly proud of their progress.
