  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak Urdu fluently as it is deeply rooted in my origins and cultural upbringing. Growing up in an environment where Urdu is the language of expression, poetry, and emotional depth, I naturally developed a strong connection with it. However, my passion for refining my linguistic skills and understanding its literary beauty came from inspiring teachers who introduced me to classical poetry, prose, and oratory art. Their influence transformed my natural fluency into an academic and creative strength.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

I would name Allama Iqbal, the poet-philosopher of the East. His mastery of Urdu and Persian poetry, combined with his deep vision and love for humanity, makes him an emblematic representative of Urdu culture. His verses are not only linguistically beautiful but also carry spiritual, moral, and intellectual depth, reflecting the soul of Urdu as a language of emotion, wisdom, and eloquence.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

Yes! One phrase I deeply admire is "Adab" (respect). In Urdu culture, “Adab” is more than just politeness—it represents a whole way of life where kindness, humility, and grace are woven into speech. Whether greeting elders, conversing with peers, or addressing students, the language itself teaches respect and beauty in expression.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking Urdu connects me to my roots, my history, and the poetic rhythm of my culture. It allows me to express emotions with richness and nuance that few other languages can match. Teaching it matters to me because it’s not just about grammar—it’s about sharing a worldview, a sense of identity, and a literary treasure that inspires compassion, intellect, and creativity.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

The main difficulty for learners—especially non-native speakers—is understanding the script (Nasta’liq) and mastering the honorifics and layered meanings embedded in Urdu expressions. To overcome this, I use interactive methods such as storytelling, dialogues, real-life conversations, and cultural immersion activities. Consistency, patience, and a sense of curiosity help learners enjoy the journey rather than fear the challenge.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

When I was in school, I once participated in a national-level Urdu declamation competition. I still remember how nervous I felt before stepping onto the stage, but the moment I began reciting a poem by Faiz Ahmed Faiz, something magical happened—the audience became completely silent, and I could feel the power of words uniting hearts. That day, I realized that Urdu is not just a language; it’s an emotion that bridges people beyond boundaries.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Travelling within Pakistan—especially to culturally rich cities like Lahore and Karachi—exposed me to diverse dialects, accents, and expressions of Urdu. Each region carries a unique linguistic flavor, from the poetic elegance of Lucknow-inspired Urdu to the lively street expressions of Karachi. These experiences deepened my understanding of how language evolves with culture, and how adaptability is key in teaching it effectively.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

What makes me a Superprof is not only my fluency but my passion for teaching with empathy, creativity, and purpose. I design lessons that are student-centered, focusing on real-life communication, cultural insight, and confidence-building. I believe every learner has a story, and I help them find their voice in a new language—whether through conversation, poetry, or daily expressions. My dedication, patience, and love for sharing knowledge make me not just a tutor, but a mentor and language guide.
