About Noah

Hi, I’m Noah Csillag! Across eleven GCSEs I scored nine different 8s and 9s, with a grade 9 in English Language. I then went on to achieve an A* in A level English Literature with a total mark of 156/160. And I’m now studying at one of the top Russell Group universities in the country. More importantly, I’ve helped over 40 different students get through GCSE English and reach that benchmark needed for future education and future opportunities. I’m not just a university student, though. I spent a full academic year working in a leading UK grammar school. This experience has allowed me to develop a personality where I can maintain a friendly but professional relationship with my students, despite being close to them in age.

My tutoring is based around three core pillars.
Pillar 1: A Clear Path to Top Grades
Your child won’t be getting generic advice. They’ll learn from someone who’s actually sat these exams, scored top marks themselves, and knows exactly what it takes to succeed. I will create a clear, personalised plan so they know what to do, how to do it, whilst also understanding why it's exactly what the examiners are looking for.
Pillar 2: Practice That Actually Pays Off
In every session, I go beyond just teaching. I set targeted, exam-style tasks and give detailed feedback — so your child isn’t just learning, they’re applying. That way, when they walk into the exam hall, they’ve already done it a hundred times before.
Pillar 3: Confidence That Carries Over
I create a space where students actually enjoy learning — and that changes everything. When a student feels seen, supported, and genuinely proud of their progress, confidence goes up — and grades follow.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

Studying Macbeth at GCSE was the first time I really gained an interest in English. I realised that there was a genuine reason for Shakespeare’s fame! The play is so genius in so many ways, and that is just one of the many wonderful plays he wrote.

I first started tutoring in my gap year when my previous Head of English asked me to run GCSE English support clinics for students at my old school. During this time I also began teaching A level English 1 on 1 and found it so rewarding when students improved as a result of my lessons.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I have tutored students who are KS2, KS3, or studying for their GCSEs, or even A levels. I love to discuss general writing or essay writing skills, as it is something l do myself for all of my university essays. I also really enjoy going through and discussing GCSE and KS3 texts. My favourites are Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ and George Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I was blown away by my A level English teacher’s vast span of knowledge on so many different subjects. He made me realise that literature opens the door to so many different conversations, whether that be philosophical, political, or psychological.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Number one is communication. The ability to transfer, through precise language, the ideas from my head into the mind of my students. Number two is being a real person! Being friendly and down to earth with students, being honest about their work, and making each lesson enjoyable.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

The main thing I used to struggle with was unseen passage analysis. When I realised that it becomes infinitely easier the more knowledge you have of language and structural techniques and their general effects, it became my strong point. This is now something I hammer home with all of my students.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

As much as I love English and literature, my real academic passion is philosophy, which is what I am studying at university. Literature leads to many philosophical questions, and delving into those is what I find the most interesting.

Outside of academia, I enjoy running marathons and playing racquet sports.
