About Akhaila
Hi, My name is Akhaila Collins, and I have recently finished my A levels in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I am now taking a gap year before pursuing a Natural sciences degree at university. Aside from academics I am also a keen athlete and love to stay active (specifically athletics and tennis) as well as a passionate musician. I have completed Grade 8 Piano and am working towards my first diploma, so I am always happy to help children with music practice and homework. I also play the Violin and am currently working towards my Grade 7. I have had prior experience in working with children in a sporting environment, as I have spent time during the holidays working at Mallinson Sport Camp as an Activity leader. Here, I am responsible for Children ages 4-13 where I engage them in sports sessions and crafts sessions. I am positive and friendly and lead tutoring sessions in a fun way, hoping to engage students at all times.

I have gained 4A* in my A levels in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. During School I gained experience in tutoring younger students on challenging maths problems. This was through a partnership programme between Highgate Junior School and St Michael’s School where I volunteered weekly as a maths mentor. I gained skills in communication and leadership as well as refining my ability to explain complex problems to younger students. I also spent some during Year 12 volunteering at Chemistry clinic to help younger students gain confidence in solving Chemistry problems with a focus on upcoming exams. I can teach anywhere from junior School to GCSE level. I can help students through challenging homework and problems can carry out a more structured lesson based on the students needs.
