About Phoebe
When I first started latin I found it extremely difficult. At the beginning of secondary school, due to an admin error, I was streamed into the top set for classics and found myself faced with a huge amount of work to keep up with my peers. While I started my latin journey looking forward to giving it up, I decided to follow through with it for GCSE and my hard work paid off as I achieved a grade 9 having taken it a year early. I now study it alongside greek as one of my four A level subjects, and couldn’t be happier with my decision.

I’ll tailor the lessons to the your needs. If there are particular areas of struggle those will be our focus points, and we can either go through things you’re learning in class at school to strengthen areas of weakness, or we can cover new material to get you ahead.
For language work, we’ll look at passages, working through the translation and picking apart the grammar together. We’ll also go through the trickier grammar in more depth and do practice exercises to strengthen your understanding.
For literature, we’ll look at the set text in preparation for the GCSE, and go through style and language techniques that are used, as well as ways to approach essay questions.
Lessons will be 50 minutes long and I tutor up to GCSE level.
