I am a trained literacy specialist with 10 years of experience teaching students how to read. My students have high success rates and develop a love of reading after my time working with them! I use engaging, meaningful lessons to teach about the key concepts needed to be a successful reader.
My lessons: My reading lessons consist of vocabulary practice, phonics and phonological awareness, comprehension, and teaching students to respond to reading through writing. I use high quality, meaningful texts to teach students how to apply literacy skills in every day life.
What sets me apart: I have a bachelor of Science degree in education with a minor in Reading. I am a graduate of Keys to Literacy and the Science of Reading programs. I have ten years of classroom experience, and I was the teacher of the year at my school in 2024. My data shows my students have the highest pass rates on standardized high stakes tests in reading, and most of all, my students grow to LOVE reading!
Who can benefit: Any child or adult learning to read for fluency, accuracy, and comprehension! I specialize in working with elementary students K-4.
