Typically, I like to start working on the foundation of math, which are the basics. Using consistency, and repetition, while finding out the students learning style and where they are lacking. I start with addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, and exponents/parenthesis using whole numbers, multi-digit numbers, decimals, fractions, and measurements. Then we can build on to a strong foundation like word problems, geometry, pre-algebra/algebra, and more.
I don't mind starting on the basics, because I have found during my teaching students that, somewhere in their foundation is lacking and just needs to be strengthened before they can comprehend and feel better about the material. I simply like to find the problem and fix it so one can feel better about themselves and their work.
These lessons are for all ages that feel like they need more understanding or help in math.
