About Jo
I love teaching and tutoring and I understand that many students are apprehensive about joining a class or working with a tutor.
I have worked with students who have had negative classroom experiences and are afraid they will not learn, as well as students who never became readers because teachers gave up on them.
English is a challenging language to learn. I have taught students from 20 different countries and often have students from 9-12 countries in my classroom. They come from many places but each is now living in the United States and all share a common goal. They need to learn English so that they can communicate effectively with employers, medical providers, teachers, and other community leaders. I tailor my lesson plans to meet their learning objectives.”
My goal is always to help students overcome their fears or weaknesses and become excited about learning.

I love teaching and tutoring. I bring energy and understanding to my students whether in a classroom or one-to-one. I tailor lesson plans to meet the needs of my students and help my students identify their goals and the steps to achieving their goals.
I have 15 years experience as a tutor for children and adults in reading, writing, and math. I have 10 years of classroom experience teaching technology to adults, and 3 years of classroom experience teaching ESL. I have taught all levels of ESL and am in the process of developing a workbook for advanced ESL students.
I love teaching and tutoring and the success of my students is my goal. I achieve when they achieve.
One of my greatest pleasures is running in to previous students and hearing how much I helped them achieve their learning goals. Teaching is a passion not just a job.
