About Randall
I have been photographing since I could physically steady a camera, instructed by my shutterbug father before learning at the helm of some of the military’s greatest photojournalists. Aspect ratio, rule of thirds, white balancing, sure they are important. But what set me apart from my peers was a preparedness to sit in place for hours (sometimes days) to capture the moment that inspired me so I could share it with others. Whether I was looking for a magazine-cover-worthy shot or telling a story, sharing a perspective seemed to always come naturally.

Photography is technical and can be bogged down in advanced methods, math, and color theory. Rather than dictate every rule, we will focus on breaking them. Many of my best pictures came from a mistake, deliberate neglect of “the correct” settings, or spur of the moment capture. Learning the very basic foundations of how your camera operates will allow you to look through the lens and capture the emotion and inspiration that led to capture, and knowing the rules allows for them to be broken. Like any art form, this is about having fun and sharing a perspective.
