About Prerna

I am a English teacher
I have always wanted to become a teacher. I have done my degree in literature. I am currently doing my masters in literature from UK. As I can connect I feel that teaching children has affected me in a positive way and I have also helped the children. Hence I feel teaching in such a warm environment would be fun. I strongly feel that I will be a strong candidate as I have been exposed to the English language throughout my life and will be able to connect and teach better with a strong background of the language. I feel that I have the capability as a teacher to make environments fun enough for the young children to participate in and learn a language at the same time. Also teaching a language not only requires one to know about the language but also ways of teaching are important, which I feel are few of the qualities I possess. One of my underlying rules for my classroom will be that diversity should be valued and difference celebrated. It is important for children to share their similarities and explore and value differences. To enhance my knowledge and understanding of diversity in the primary classroom I would be liked to get placed with a multi-cultural university. I love helping others and would want to do so by teaching in this warm environment. I enjoy all aspects of English and I believe that my own passion for the subject can inspire and motivate the children that I teach.
Talking about the place where I taught, I taught for 2 years to Indian students coming from different castes and my job was to teach children different types of vocabulary and new English words which they could not only include in their essays but also imbibe those words in future while talking. I helped students solve comprehensions, essays, letters and other types of various exercises which will help the children in enhancing their language skills. I also taught children with learning disabilities and I realized it that time that there is nothing more satisfying in one’s life than teaching and sharing knowledge. I worked during my undergrad for 2 years. Per week I worked for 15o hrs.

I feel I will be an asset to your university and will be able to contribute greatly to the caring and free spirited community. I have loved learning every day and would very much like to have the chance to learn more as a teacher alongside learning pupils. I am now looking for a community where I can take the first step on my journey of a thousand miles. I hope to find the right place where I can feel that I belong and where I can make a real contribution to the teaching team and also to the children that I teach.
