About Wentworth
I am a called barrister and practising solicitor with eight years’ experience managing legal cases, including High Court litigation. I achieved a Distinction in the LPC, have over 200 hours of tutoring experience and am a Superprof Ambassador with extensive positive student reviews.
I hold STEP Advanced Certificates in Taxation of Trusts and Estates, and Trusts Law and Practice (International), with a Distinction in the latter. My Philosophy BA focused on ethics and logic.
My approach is analytical, rigorous and practical. Drawing on my experience as a lawyer, I explain complex concepts simply, identify the key legal material and help students understand how and why legal principles apply to particular facts.
I am particularly good at questioning assumptions, identifying gaps in reasoning and challenging conclusions that are not adequately supported. I encourage students to consider competing interpretations, distinguish legally significant facts and explain why one argument may be stronger than another, rather than simply stating a conclusion.
My teaching is patient and constructive, emphasising clear expression, logical structure and assessment criteria to develop skills students can use independently throughout their degree.

I offer tailored tuition for LLB/GDL students who want to improve their answers to legal problem questions. Knowing the relevant law is not enough: strong answers identify the issues, apply appropriate principles to the facts and justify their conclusions.
• Issue spotting: Recognising the legal issues raised by the facts, distinguishing important details from background information and identifying matters that require further analysis.
• Applying the law: Selecting appropriate cases, legislation and legal principles, and explaining precisely how they relate to the facts. Evaluating whether authorities remain good law, have been overturned or distinguished, are binding or persuasive, and how their reasoning, consistency with other decisions and any dissenting judgments affect the strength of an argument.
• Stronger reasoning: Testing conclusions, evaluating alternative arguments, dealing honestly with uncertainty rather than asserting an outcome, and persuading rather than stating an opinion.
• Structure and IRAC: Using IRAC flexibly, or another suitable approach, to build concise and logically ordered answers.
• Understanding marking criteria: Recognising what examiners reward in legal knowledge, application, reasoning, structure and justified conclusions.
• Written feedback: I offer general reviews identifying the key areas for improvement or more detailed paragraph-by-paragraph feedback on draft answers. My comments are often question-led so that students improve their own analysis rather than receiving rewritten work.
Live lessons are generally 60 minutes and may involve working through a problem question, discussing an attempted answer or focusing on a particular technique.
I can consider a range of LLB subjects, including less familiar topics where suitable advance preparation is possible. Tuition respects university academic integrity requirements
