I took lessons from James and heard him play a lot on the Birmingham jazz scene. He is a clear communicator and an inspirational player, and gave me exciting ways to develop my musical skills. The lessons accomodated my pace, interests and learning style - it was a non-pressurised environment that allowed me to improve at the things I wanted to improve while having fun. James is a very patient tutor, while also managing to get the best progress out of the student. He would take his time to explain what the tune required and talk it through methodically. I had never played guitar before, and I learnt chords to my favourite songs very quickly with James.
