About Sirena
Hi there! My name is Sirena and I am a Singer-Songwriter based out of NYC, and I am an alum of NYU/Steinhardt, majoring in songwriting and minoring in film. I was accepted into one of the country's most selective songwriting programs, and studying under Grammy-Award winning Phil Galdston and Dana Calitri. I grew up in Hamilton Heights, NYC where most of my inspiration for songwriting collaboration, community building came from. For 8 years now, I have been teaching songwriting and vocal lessons in local community gardens, and online/in person. I am a very patient, kind and productive person. My goal as a teacher is to help guide my students to reach their goals, whether that being writing their first song, recording music, connecting them with people in the industry, and building a musical community. Nice to meet you! I first like to get to know my students and their goals. Then we can organize a schedule that will best fit their goals based on projects they are working on, such as their own songs, recording in music studios or those preparing for high school/college auditions! During a lesson, I might have my student sing me a song (cover, original), so I can get a sense of what skills they might find helpful or assign them a songwriting prompt that we can work on for the next lesson. I also have experience in working with children and young adults who are in special education (I am dyslexic) and very open to speaking about the gift of having a difference!
