About Gareth

I've tutored children before to help them pass the 11+ exam to get them into selective grammar schools as well as assisting my friends with their actual A-level and university level exams. I have experience tutoring all age ranges with no problem whatsoever. As boring as it sounds tutoring these topics would be quite fun for me as these two topics are something I am usually quite involved with in my spare time and hobbies. I do number problems in the morning to stimulate my brain, I will look at financial news to make predictions on the economy and at the same time place bets through stocks and options. Getting this role would be very fun for me as well as a good way to help other people out.

I can help you learn any part of maths or economics in a very simple and effective way. my hours are flexible around your time table however I prefer to teach my students 2-4X per week for less hours as studies have shown this is a more effective way to learn. however if you'd prefer different scheduling that is fine with me. At the end of the day I'm more worried about getting you the desired results. If you're a maths or economics student you will be taught in very similar ways and that is from the ground up. Both subjects are just extensions of previous knowledge so it is important that we cover the basics to understand the complex areas and this will not only help you become more knowledgeable but better at problem solving in general.

Mathematics:
If you are strong at a particular area and it shows we will just gloss over that section. Typically we will start with basic algebra as this will help with all branches of maths and logic in general. Then we will focus on geometry and finishing with graphs. Topics will vary depending on the exams you will sit. I.e a GCSE student may also deal with ratios and fractions, A level students will miss that section and instead have calculus, university students will miss the previously mentioned areas and will have complex analysis. You get the point.

Economics:
I also teach economics from different schools of thought and at different levels of education. Once again starting with the basics and going through topics in order of supply and demand, market competition, government and market failure, government objectives, Fiscal policy, Monetary policy and finally international free trade. Typically pre-university economics focuses on pieces of Keynesianism and Monetarism which happen to be two fields I'm very comfortable with. At university level it is important to know multiple schools of thought to a more in depth degree and learning the underlying ideology. I am also well aware of the other schools and their importance particularly Austrian economics.

I will have a video series to complement your learning which will be free if you chose to take lessons with me.
