About Kodhai

I am an Indian-American Documentary Filmmaker currently based in Barcelona. My profession requires getting to know people from a variety of backgrounds and building trust and connection with them. I believe these are essential translatable skills when it comes to teaching students as well. In high school, I studied Higher-Level English through the IB Diploma Course. During this time, I tutored middle-school children who took English as a Second Language. At University, I tutored English, Economics and Psychology to other University students. In my 5+ years of experience teaching, the skills required for writing, reading and speaking in a language are completely different and all 3 need to be developed in order to truly grasp it. I work with my students on all 3 areas to ensure they feel confident in their English abilities. I also work with students on college essay edits and helping them find their individual voice.

About the lesson

I believe in a very targeted approach - I identify points of weakness in a student's English-language skills, and create catered exercises and lessons to help turn these weaknesses into a strength!

For English as a second-language students, I believe confidence is half the battle. So, the approach will initially begin with more oral conversation in addition to learning some basics of grammar, and will then proceed to include reading comprehension, and learning to write sentences and essays correctly and also creatively.

For College Essay Edits, I work with students to brainstorm ideas and organization of their essay, work with them to develop their ideas further, and give them consistent edits on their essays until they are submission ready.

I am patient, and believe every student can excel at English.
