About Maxence

I started photography more than 10 years ago, when I became interested in the profession that I practice today: director of photography in cinema. I am the person behind the camera, who determines the framing and lighting. Like a client in photography, a director seeks an aesthetic. It is I who will be responsible for all the technical and stylistic choices of shooting, in order to satisfy the director's vision. If we except that in cinema there is movement, it is pure and hard photography. That is to say, using technical knowledge and skill for narrative and artistic purposes. At the same time, when I am not working, I have my camera with me almost every day; rather for some portrait on the spot, often in chiaroscuro, my guilty pleasure ! If I'm here on SuperProf, it's because I want to give a helping hand to those who have the following desire: to take photos as dazzling as what you have in front of you. Let's put an end to the disappointment when the photo does not do justice to the splendor that you have before your eyes, whatever it is: a magnificent landscape, the face of a friend bathed in a pretty light, the staggering geometry of buildings. .

Photography requires a motor: the subjective point of view. This engine requires fuel: technique. This is why I offer a course focused on these two facets. First, the technique, which begins with theory. It can be confusing. While it is actually quite rudimentary (yes believe me!). It is the look that takes a long time to form. Personally, I have always found that the technicality required to create a successful photo is often overestimated. How many people have I met, impressed by the numbers and the plethora of options on the screen of a digital camera? I do not count them anymore. And I understand them only too well: I was part of them when I started photography. My goal is to demystify all this in 60 minutes, by taking up the theoretical bases, and this by experimenting with a device, in order to understand by looking. Pictures speak far more than words. Then, the subjective point of view. The engine that will determine the nature of the image. This engine, it differs according to the personality of each. This is the whole point of photography: the singularity of each person's way of seeing things. Now, it is true that there is general visual knowledge that is good to know, and we will study it first. But beyond that, there is no universal recipe for a successful photo. The very notion of a successful photo is extremely subjective, it is a matter of taste of course. So, what matters to me, and what we will do together, is to determine what your desires are, in order to adapt my advice tailored to your profile. Very simple example: the visual approach will be very different if you are interested in the photography of the stars or in portraits taken on the spot.
