About Joel
I am currently a high school algebra teacher with LAUSD. I have experience at the middle school level, and I have taught HiSET preparation courses for adults seeking high school equivalency. I earned at MA in Secondary Mathematics Education from WGU, where I received two Excellence Awards for original lesson plans I created in educational technology and statistics. I also earned my teaching credential from CSU Long Beach.

I use a problem-based approach to teaching mathematical concepts. I usually begin a lesson by gauging your understanding of the concept, then modeling the concept on a given problem and finally allowing you time to practice the concept on your own. I use different curricula, based on your level of mathematics, including curricula aligned with AP courses--but I am flexible and can accommodate your needs. Lessons are best suited for high school and lower-division undergraduate courses.
