Perfect! My daughter has been learning Chinese with Darcy for a while now, and I couldn’t recommend her more highly. She is incredibly punctual and organised, which makes every lesson feel smooth and well-structured. One thing I really appreciate is how learning progress is carefully tracked — we receive a detailed progress report after every 10 lessons.
Darcy always come prepared with learning materials that are not only effective but also genuinely fun and engaging. Lessons never feel repetitive or dull — there’s always something new to keep things interesting.
On top of that, Darcy is kind, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable. My daughter has already shown a real improvement in her Chinese language!Perfect! I have been extremely blessed to have found Darcy as my Mandarin tutor. She is a truly gifted teacher. It's not just her vibrancy, her dedication, or her knowledge and skills, or her enthusiasm with getting the best out of her students that makes her so unique; she also has that rare gift of being able to teach in such a way that makes learning so much easier to grapple with, and so much more enjoyable.
I am extremely impressed by the many tools she has at her disposal to stimulate learning and to engage me in such a way that I'm constantly practising in between lessons. In addition to providing a structured approach to learning, and the added value of the history and cultural aspects of the language she brings to the lessons, she is also able to identify the best way to engage a student. With me, it was through singing. It does help that she is multi-talented and can sing beautifully too. Even more importantly, she is able to demonstrate to me (you need to take lessons from her to see what I mean), how to pronounce those difficult phonemes. So, if you had ever struggled to learn to speak mandarin or are still struggling, or simply if you fancy learning a new language, you need to give Darcy a try. You won't regret it.Perfect! Darcy is enthusiastic, friendly, and an excellent teacher. She is clearly a scholar of Chinese language (and language generally) but also manages to make study of it approachable, accessible, and enjoyable, which is a rare combination! I recommend her highly.
Darcy is an amazing teacher. I am 8 weeks in to my lessons and now I've made massive improvements. In China I could order my own takeaway coffee and some food and the locals were shocked - it was amazing.
She breaks things down in to easily digestible content and relates them to real world examples. Her lessons are structured. Mostly importantly the lessons are fun. Darcy is fun to learn from. Whether in person or online, her lessons are really good.
For me personally the hardest part of Mandarin was learning how to properly pronounce certain tones but what helped me was learning how to say them in a phonetic way via English which is an amazing tailored experience for me.
