About Sam
I’m a dedicated and approachable tutor with a passion for helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals in Maths and Science. With experience teaching in two secondary schools and a PGCE in Secondary Physics, I understand how to support learners of all abilities - from those who need to strengthen their foundations to those aiming for top GCSE grades. My background in Astrophysics has given me a deep appreciation for how Maths and Science connect to the real world, and I aim to bring that enthusiasm into every lesson. I take pride in creating a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and are encouraged to think for themselves.

I create student-led lessons that focus on the areas where pupils need the most support - whether that’s reinforcing key concepts, preparing for exams, or building confidence with homework. When teaching core topics, I use a scaffolded approach, providing step-by-step guidance and gradually reducing support as students grow more confident and independent. I make use of digital whiteboards, past exam questions, and retrieval practice to keep lessons interactive and to strengthen long-term understanding. Lessons typically last one hour, though I’m happy to extend sessions when needed. I have experience as a trainee teacher for science in two secondary schools, hold a PGCE in Secondary Physics, and a Master’s degree in Astrophysics. My lessons are aimed at Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils of all ability levels, and I strive to create a supportive environment where every student can make meaningful progress.
