About Rebecca
Hi! My name is Rebecca and I am a master's graduate in history with over ten years' tutoring experience. I have a deep love of music, English literature and the social sciences, but I understand how difficult it can be to maintain these passions in a busy, heavy class load. I have worked with students of all ages on their reading comprehension and writing, and I always keep sight of a student's own focuses in their work. My lessons are collaborative and student-led; I simply provide the structure, support and encouragement that a student needs to communicate their thoughts, ideas and perspective.

I let my students build and guide the lesson collaboratively. I offer structured lessons for high school students struggling with reading comprehension and writing. I will begin with a short reading prompt, and then we will work on verbalizing various responses to it. The bulk of my lessons are directed writing sessions, focusing on summaries, outlines and idea-trees. I believe it to be critical for students to gain experience writing fluidly in a relaxed, low-stakes environment. I find this approach invaluable to all grade levels, but especially fruitful for high school students engaged in diploma essay preparations.
