My approach blends traditional pedagogy with a contemporary understanding of body mechanics and individual learning styles. I focus on cultivating not just technical excellence but also an emotional connection to the dance. Each session is interactive, reflective, and immersive—designed to engage your body, mind, and spirit.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like:
A standard 45-60 minute class includes:
Warm-up and conditioning to improve flexibility, stamina, and postural awareness.
Reinforcement of foundational postures like Chowk and Tribhanga, with attention to alignment and grace.
Rhythmic training and footwork drills, with gradual progression into more complex patterns.
Practice of mudras and their meanings, exploring how gesture becomes language.
Abhinaya (expressive storytelling): breaking down a line of poetry or a character’s emotion and learning to embody it.
Choreography or repertoire review, depending on level, often concluding with reflective notes and homework for the week.
For beginners, initial sessions focus on building strength and awareness, while intermediate and advanced students receive detailed feedback on precision, musicality, and stage presence.
