About Tessa

My teaching approach in Physics is nurturing, personalised, and centred around helping students explore concepts through computation and simulation. I combine traditional problem-solving with modern tools like computer modelling, data visualisation, numerical methods, and scientific programming basics. This approach makes physics more engaging and relevant to real-world research and discovery. Each lesson is tailored to individual learning goals, ensuring every student feels supported and challenged at the right pace. I guide learners through step-by-step explanations, followed by hands-on practice using computational tools such as Python or MATLAB. Together, we translate physical theories into visual models and simulations that strengthen understanding. I work especially well with students who are research-focused or fascinated by nuclear and computational physics. Through guided simulations and programming exercises, I help them develop the confidence to explore complex systems independently. My sessions encourage curiosity, analytical thinking, and creativity in solving physics problems. Every session is an opportunity to think like a scientist and experiment with ideas. Together, we celebrate progress, curiosity, and the joy of mastering both physics and computational skills.

I am a Physics tutor with over 8 years of experience and a Master’s degree in Physics (MPhys), specialising in biophysics and the physics of living systems. My teaching journey has been devoted to helping students bridge the gap between physics and biology. I’ve guided many biology and pre-med students in understanding how the principles of physics shape the world of life. My expertise lies in explaining the physics behind molecular motors, membrane transport, nerve impulses, and biomechanics. These topics often seem complex at first, but I make them accessible through clear explanations and structured lessons. I focus on developing both conceptual understanding and analytical thinking, helping students see the patterns that govern biological systems. My sessions combine theoretical insight with real-world applications. I often use visual examples and analogies to simplify intricate ideas. Every lesson is designed to build confidence and curiosity, encouraging students to ask questions and think deeply. I especially enjoy working with learners who want to explore how physics applies to living organisms. It’s rewarding to see them connect equations to cellular motion or energy transfer within the body. Teaching biophysics allows me to share the joy of discovering how physics reveals the elegant mechanisms of life itself.
