About Patrick
Hello there! I’m a physicist who cares deeply about making a positive difference in the world. I have worked as a teaching assistant, primary instructor, and tutor in a university setting where I taught Classical Mechanics, Introductory Electromagnetism, and Astronomy. I love meeting and working with others and helping students build a better understanding of the universe we live in. I would be happy to help students at any level, no matter if you are just taking a course to fulfill a requirement or if you are deep into a course that you find challenging.
I find that the way we traditionally teach physics can often be challenging for students who are new to the subject. My goal as a tutor is to help you build the skills you need to succeed in any physics course and to give you confidence in your abilities and physical judgment.

For our first meeting we will discuss what your needs are. I will help you determine if you need assistance with a specific task, for example completing homework or preparing for an exam. We will review your comfortability with physical concepts and topics, and I will come up with a plan to support you in your learning process. I’m happy to be flexible with your learning goals while also providing structured time to practice and learn physics.
My teaching style focuses heavily on helping students build reasoning skills and confidence in their own decision making and judgment. Success in Physics requires what I call reasoning by first principles and my goal as your tutor is to help you build confidence in this skill.
