About Elias

I am a motivated Japanology student and have had 4 years of Japanese lessons. Having always studied the language with great enthusiasm and effort, I consistently achieved high scores on my Japanese exams. I also practise language immersion as often as possible (via podcasts, videos, music, film, etc.). Last year I studied for a semester at Ryukoku University in Kyoto, where I was taught in Japanese and also tutored Japanese students in English. In short, I am passionate about the Japanese language and culture and would like to share my enthusiasm with others who also have an interest in the country and the language.

About the lesson

We will start our lessons using the "Genki" books (English-Japanese), in order to quickly become familiar with Japanese. In addition, I will provide interesting reading, listening and viewing material, adapted to your level and interests. We can have conversations in Japanese and learn frequently used expressions, so you can learn to speak naturally. Spoken Japanese is evolving rapidly and new expressions often pop up like mushrooms.

If your level is higher and you already have a good basic knowledge of Japanese, we can switch to the Japanese textbook "出会い" (deai), which is completely in Japanese. Of course, I will always help to clarify the texts in this case.

If preferred, we don't have to strictly adhere to a textbook and can also work on the basis of handouts or other media if this approach suits you more. In any case, we will look for the approach that works best for you!

I would also give you tips and other recommendations regarding Japanese series, movies, music, websites, apps, and so on! So feel free to contact me if you are interested and よろしくおねがいします! ;)
