About Paul

Hello to all future students!

My name is Paul and I began playing guitar at the age of 9 thanks to my father teaching me. I played saxophone in high school and was extremely active in the music program with choir, stage bands, concert bands and small and large ensembles. I studied music for 9 years as well as teaching in various schools. I taught sax, guitar, bass, flute, clarinet, vocals, piano and arranged for primary and high school ensembles.

Once I completed my graduate diploma in music education I was the head of music and designing music programs for particular schools.

I have previous students that went on to write their own music, release successful albums and tour the world. I myself took a break from teaching to tour the world and live off music as a performer.

I have extensive experince in education as well as performance and I love to talk about music and seeing students progress is one of my greatest joys in life.

About the lesson

I have 30 years experience as a music tutor. I have played guitar, bass and lead vocals all over the world. I am currently applying for my PhD in cognitive mechanics on guitar. I have found there are tricks you can learn to trick your brain into thinking it can do something before it can. This allows you to learn at a much faster rate from a higher level on concentration.

I have various degrees, Cert. IV in commercial music performance. Diploma n commercial music performance, Bachelor degree in jazz performance, graduate diploma in music education and a masters in neuroscience in music education.

I have taught ages 5-76. I am better suited to adult students.

I specialise in improvisation, theory and developing your own unique style.
