About Felicity
I'm a queer Sociologist and teacher with a lot of patience and a steady hand. My passion is helping young people cut through the noise and understand WHY a course wants you to work and study in the way that it does and how YOU can think like the enemy and get ahead of the examiners. I'm flexible and approachable, and I know first-hand how complicated life and our own brains can be, especially when you're finding your feet and working out what you want to do with your life. If you're looking for someone patient to work out what is best for you and how to guide you to understanding and your own type of excellent - I'm your girl.

I am an approachable, highly educated Sociology teacher who specialises in 1:1 coaching, working with A Level students to understand what the 'Assessment Objectives' mean and how to apply them in your essays. I offer hourly sessions to go over key material relating to aspects of the course, culminating in the scaffolded creation of an essay plan and answer to use in revision and to hone written skills with. I can also offer personalised follow-up live marking on questions to teach students to 'think like an examiner'. My experience and qualifications: - 2:1 Bachelor of Arts, Sociology - Durham University - Merit, Master of Arts, Sociology and Social Research - Newcastle University - PGCE in Further Education and Training - Brighton University - 6 years professional teaching of the AQA Sociology A Level - Experience working as an AQA Examiner for A Level Sociology - Experience training and coaching staff in Teaching and Learning - Experience coaching students to undertake quantitative research - Further experience as a Teaching Assistant in a specialist Autism Spectrum Condition Centre - Repurposing my career to pursue contemporary Sociological research alongside expert tutoring Modules and Topics of expertise: - Education - Families and Households - Media - Beliefs in Society - Crime and Deviance - Theory and Methods
