About Nivedita
My name is Nivedita and I have been teaching for 20+ years. I have a master's degree in English and psychology. I have taught at many competitive academic schools and have set all my students up for success with my teaching method.

Experienced teacher and motivates all her students in the best way. My Focus is to enhance the overall English Learning in terms of Reading, Writing, and Grammar. Writing: • The Writing Process: Break down the writing process into steps like planning, drafting, revising, and editing. • Paragraph Development: Teach how to structure paragraphs with a clear topic sentence, supporting evidence, and transitions. • Effective Vocabulary: Help students expand their vocabulary and choose the right words for different contexts. • Different Writing Styles: Explore various writing styles like narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and informative. • Mechanics and Proofreading: Reinforce proper punctuation usage, capitalization, and proofreading techniques. Grammar: • Foundational Skills: Start with the basics – parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc.), subject-verb agreement, and basic sentence structure. • Essential Tenses: Master the commonly used tenses like present, past, and future, along with their variations. • Sentence Complexity: Teach how to craft clear and concise sentences, then progress to combining sentences for variety and flow. • Common Errors: Address frequently confused topics like comma usage, subject-verb agreement in complex sentences, and pronoun usage. Building Comprehension Skills: • Pre-Reading Strategies: Activate prior knowledge, discuss topic/genre, preview headings and visuals to build anticipation and background understanding. • Active Reading Strategies: Encourage questioning, prediction based on clues, monitoring comprehension (rereading if unclear), and using context clues to make inferences. • Post-Reading Strategies: Summarizing main ideas and supporting details, making connections to personal experiences or other texts, inferring implicit information, using graphic organizers (mind maps, charts) to visualize the text. Enhancing Fluency and Vocabulary: • Exposure to Diverse Texts: Provide a variety of materials across genres (fiction, non-fiction, poetry) and difficulty levels to broaden reading experience and challenge students. • Explicit Vocabulary Instruction: Directly teach the meaning and usage of new words encountered in texts, helping students build a strong vocabulary base.
