About Michael
Hi! I am a Masters Graduate currently working for a Research Institute in the East Midlands. As I look toward my PhD in the near future, I'm looking to help students as they gear up for their degree. I'm incredibly passionate about politics and International Relations, but not just the actors and the newspaper headlines, but behind the scenes, our personal relationships with the wider world, how we build our beliefs, how they impact our actions and how we relate to others.

I believe Politics and International Relations are both best understood through their mechanics rather than their outcomes so my teaching style would suit someone who is interested in understanding why actions occur and the reasoning behind them. Teaching-wise, I prefer open dialogue based around a structured topic, we tend to glean more about a subject through our engagement with it rather than direct lectures, as it allows us to organize things in our own mind. Politics is also subjective, conversation helps us understand alternative views rather than cast them aside, and when entering the field, in an academic sense, it's incredibly important to be able to discuss all sides of an argument (even if you are trying to disparage one!)
