About Kathy
I have a degree in school counseling and as a case worker for a children’s home. Working with people has always been my passion. I lived in the Philippines for 3 years and took language class to learn Tagolog so I understand, first hand, the challenges of learning a foreign language and a new culture. I have taught ESL for two years and thoroughly enjoy working with students as they learn and progress every week.

I have taught beginner and intermediate class. I start with the basics just as I did when I homeschooled my daughter. She began reading at the age of 4 and I use the same method with ESL students that I used with her. Building on the basics, repetition, practice, music, using games, and humor. I have found if there is an emotional connection, such as humor, then students remember much quicker. I try to make lessons fun but challenging.
