About Karl
Hi, I’m Karl, a passionate science educator eager to help you succeed! With a Master’s in Education from Relay Graduate School of Education, I bring expertise, professionalism, and an innovative approach to teaching. My lessons are engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet your unique needs.
Outside of teaching, I’m deeply interested in health and wellness, technology, and sports. I ran track and field in high school and college, and I’m also a boxer—so I know the value of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. I even explore video game coding in my free time, blending creativity with problem-solving skills.

**My Approach to Science Tutoring**
As a science tutor for grades 6–12, I use a student-centered approach to make learning meaningful and enjoyable. My teaching integrates innovative strategies such as **POGILs (Process-Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning)** and **ABC (Activity Before Content) lessons**, which empower students to actively engage with scientific concepts and phenomena before diving into the theory.
**Teaching Techniques:**
I prioritize inquiry-based learning, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities. POGILs encourage teamwork and critical thinking, while ABC lessons enable students to encounter science in action, sparking curiosity and motivation. These methods build a deep understanding of science that goes beyond memorization.
**IN A Typical Lesson Plan Students are Motivated to:**
1. **Warm-Up:** Start with a thought-provoking question or observation related to the day's topic.
2. **Activity (ABC Approach):** Engage students in a science experiment, simulation, or exploration before introducing the content.
3. **Guided Inquiry (POGIL):** Facilitate small group work to explore and discuss patterns or data.
4. **Content Connection:** Present scientific concepts tied to the activity and inquiry findings.
