About Joseph
Hello, my name is Joseph Schmitt, and I am a college senior at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, where I was born and raised. I have many years of math tutoring experience among various age groups involving areas like Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. I am very passionate about what I do, and I love helping students be successful in learning math. I will do my absolute best to boost each and every student's confidence in the learning setting.

My teaching method is both interactive and student focused. I will use techniques such as step-by-step explanations, real life applications, questioning, pattern recognition, and worked problems that promote critical thinking. The main components of my typical lesson plan include the title of the lesson, what the standard is for that lesson, and the key objectives that will be covered. I will also provide a list of all the items needed of the lesson. If necessary, a formative assessment will be provided to assess student understanding. As a math tutor, I am willing to patiently work with every student to make sure they effectively understand each concept being taught. I simplify complex and difficult problems, tailor lessons to different individual needs, promote critical thinking, and I help students build their confidence up when learning mathematics. I believe that every student is unique and has the potential to achieve greatness in and outside the class. These lessons are primarily aimed towards middle school learners, high school learners, and undergraduate students.
