About Shruti
I am a mathematics tutor with over 5 years of experience and hold an MMath degree. My passion goes beyond formulas and equations; I am fascinated by the history of mathematics and how mathematical thought has evolved over time. I love exploring how ancient civilizations—from the Egyptians to the Greeks and beyond—shaped the foundation of the mathematics we study today.
I enjoy uncovering the stories behind famous theorems and discoveries, from the origins of algebra to the insights of number theory. Every formula has a story, and every proof carries the mark of human curiosity and ingenuity. In my sessions, I guide students to see mathematics as a living discipline, shaped by culture, intellect, and centuries of exploration.
I emphasize understanding the “why” behind concepts, not just the “how.” I show how historical context can deepen appreciation and make abstract ideas more meaningful. My teaching approach in mathematics is gentle, reflective, and focused on building a deep conceptual understanding. Together, we break down difficult ideas into manageable steps, making higher mathematics less intimidating. I foster curiosity and encourage questioning, guiding students to see patterns and relationships within mathematics.
Assignments, exercises, and problem-solving sessions are tailored to strengthen understanding and build confidence. I focus on developing logical reasoning and analytical skills, which are essential for excelling in exams and research. My goal is to inspire students to think creatively and independently, helping them discover new ways to approach mathematical problems.
