About Marty
Proficiency in math and communication has been my superpower throughout a long career in technology, the arts, and even as a martial arts instructor. What I've learned along the way is that the basic skills of any business are knowing "how much you need," "how much you have," "how long will it last," and "how much does it cost." And that's why colleges and employers put so much emphasis on these skills, and why people in quantitative fields (accountants, bankers, engineers, software developers, etc.) earn more money than the average.
I have three college degrees. A Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from SUNY Binghamton, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, and an MBA from MIT. And along the way I've learned what makes an exceptional teacher.

I start with the basics! Do you get the concept? Math is easy when you relate it to everyday events and objects. So we start a typical lesson plan with "Do you know what math is? Do you know the difference between "math" and "arithmetic"?" And we do this long before bothering with "numerator" and "denominator."
My lessons are geared towards high school students studying for SAT and other college prep exams as well as college students struggling with algebra and trig.
