About Dys
I am a patient, approachable, and dedicated tutor who believes that every student is capable of succeeding in Mathematics with the right guidance and support. Having taught primary school students in both Science and English, I have developed the ability to explain concepts in a clear and relatable manner while adapting my teaching style to suit different learning needs. I enjoy making lessons interactive and engaging by connecting mathematical concepts to real-life situations, helping students see the relevance of what they learn in school.
My passion for becoming a Mathematics tutor stems from my enjoyment of problem-solving and my desire to help students build confidence in their abilities. Throughout my leadership experiences as a Drum Major, Orientation Group Leader, and Peer Support Leader, I have learned the importance of patience, communication, and encouraging others to reach their potential. I find great satisfaction in seeing students overcome challenges, gain confidence, and develop a genuine appreciation for learning. As a tutor, I hope to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and steadily improving both their understanding and their results.

- Tailor to the Individual Abandon cookie-cutter lesson plans. Evaluate each student’s unique learning style—whether they are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. By using targeted assessments, I pinpoint the exact breakdown point where foundational understanding failed, rather than just treating symptoms on surface-level homework.
- Simplify Complex Concepts: Transform abstract mathematical ideas (like algebra or geometry) into highly structured, manageable chunks. I identify patterns that students can look out for to memorize concepts better. This is done using step-by-step organizers and breaking multi-step problems down so they never feel overwhelming
- Make lessons interactive and fun: Use everyday analogies and practical applications to make math relatable. For instance, explain coordinate systems through a physical treasure hunt, or illustrate fractions and percentages through cooking, shopping, and budgeting scenarios.
- Monitor and Measure Progress: Track improvement not just through test scores, but by observing how students approach unfamiliar problems.
- Cultivate Confidence: Build a strong foundational understanding to help transform a student's outlook on the subject from fear to empowerment.
