About Catherine
My passion for mathematics began with a fascination for patterns, numbers, and logical structures. This led me to pursue a B.Sc in Mathematics followed by an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, equipping me with deep theoretical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills. Over 11 years, I have taught students at all levels, guiding them to understand concepts deeply, build analytical skills, and develop confidence in mathematics.
I teach with clarity, patience, and structure, combining stepwise explanations, visual demonstrations, and practical examples to ensure comprehension. I encourage students to explore concepts independently, ask questions, and approach problems creatively.
Outside teaching, I engage with mathematical modelling, optimisation studies, and innovative teaching methods to make lessons fresh and relevant. Witnessing students transform from hesitation to confidence, mastering concepts, and enjoying mathematics is the most rewarding part of my work and motivates me to continually refine my teaching approach.

Mathematics is a subject of patterns, logic, and problem-solving, and my lessons are designed to make these concepts engaging and accessible. Students explore algebra, calculus, number theory, geometry, and probability through structured explanations, practical examples, and interactive exercises. I emphasise understanding the principles behind each concept rather than rote memorisation, allowing learners to develop critical thinking skills and confidence in tackling complex problems. Each lesson is designed to ignite curiosity and foster independent analytical reasoning.
I adapt my teaching to each student’s level. Beginners focus on basic arithmetic, foundational algebra, and introductory geometry, establishing a solid base. Intermediate learners tackle calculus, coordinate geometry, and probability, enhancing logical reasoning and problem-solving capability. Advanced learners engage with abstract algebra, combinatorics, and applied modelling, developing advanced analytical thinking and exam readiness. Lessons integrate step-by-step solutions, illustrative examples, and continuous practice to ensure mastery and application.
Beyond academic skill, my maths lessons nurture structured thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities applicable in many areas. Students learn to approach challenges methodically, develop confidence in their solutions, and see mathematics as a logical, enjoyable subject. My goal is to help learners build mastery, perform confidently, and apply their skills to real-world challenges effectively.
