About Troy
My passion for mathematics started with fascination for patterns, problem-solving, and abstract reasoning that describe real-world phenomena. This led me to complete a B.Sc in Applied Mathematics and an M.Sc in Mathematical Modelling, providing a robust foundation in both theory and application. Over the past 10 years, I have guided learners through topics ranging from arithmetic to advanced calculus, emphasising clarity, logical thinking, and conceptual understanding.
I approach teaching with patience, structure, and adaptability. Complex ideas are broken into digestible steps, visualised when possible, and tied to practical examples. I encourage curiosity, questioning, and independent thinking, ensuring that learners not only solve problems but understand underlying principles. Each student receives personalised support aligned with their goals and abilities.
Outside the classroom, I explore mathematical modelling, applied research, and problem-solving in real-world contexts. Teaching mathematics is deeply fulfilling because I see learners transform uncertainty into understanding, gaining both confidence and analytical skills. My aim is to cultivate independent, thoughtful, and capable mathematicians prepared to excel academically and beyond.

Mathematics becomes more accessible and enjoyable when learners see it as a system of logic and interconnected ideas rather than isolated rules. In my lessons, I guide students through algebra, calculus, probability, geometry, and critical problem-solving using structured explanations, visual aids, and real-world applications. I emphasise understanding concepts over rote memorisation so learners can apply principles independently. Every session includes examples, exercises, and feedback designed to strengthen skill, analytical thinking, and confidence. My aim is to make maths intellectually stimulating, approachable, and relevant to both academic and real-life contexts.
Lessons are customised for different levels. Beginners focus on arithmetic, basic equations, and fundamental problem-solving strategies. Intermediate learners work on algebraic manipulation, functions, trigonometry, probability, and logical reasoning. Advanced learners explore calculus, multi-step problem-solving, optimisation, and theoretical applications to prepare for competitions, exams, and higher education. Each session emphasises understanding, reinforcement, and independent thinking.
Maths lessons also build patience, analytical reasoning, and self-confidence. Students learn to approach problems methodically, trust their solutions, and develop logical thinking skills applicable in multiple disciplines. Many gain both academic success and practical confidence. My mission is to help learners develop strong mathematical foundations, problem-solving abilities, and lifelong curiosity for analytical thinking.
