About Kudzi

My name is Kudzi and if that is not interesting enough then I will tell you a little more about myself. I attended Barberton high school and matriculated at the top of my class in 2019 with 5 distinctions including a 90% for math and a 90% for Physics, and if that is not enough to convince, both my parents are teachers Dad being an English teacher and Mom a math teacher so I am articulate and logical in my thinking. I also took a gap year to help tutor students from my high school for a year at my parents' extra class institution. If you choose me as your tutor I’d be willing to go the extra mile for you to make sure you get the future you want for yourself. Thank you.

As you will find out about me, I took a gap year in 2020 after matriculating at the top of my class. During that time I was employed as a tutor at my parents' institution for after school lessons. There I was surrounded with good teachers and became better at cultivating my already latent ability to explain. I use a method of understanding when it comes to explaining work if I can help you understand why? Then you will be more likely to remember than if I told you what?

  • When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in mathematics during my early school years. I was always fascinated by the logical structure and problem-solving nature of the subject. My interest in private tutoring began in high school when I started helping my classmates with their math homework. I realized how much I enjoyed explaining concepts and helping others understand and appreciate math.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach mathematics, which covers a wide range of topics from algebra and calculus to statistics and geometry. I particularly enjoy discussing topics like calculus and linear algebra because of their applications and the logical beauty they present. On the other hand, I don't really dislike any topics but I will say I find euclidean geometry even more fun because of its puzzle like nature.
  • Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I had a high school math teacher who inspired me greatly. Mrs. Bronchorst had a unique way of making complex mathematical concepts seem simple and fascinating. Her passion for the subject was infectious, and she always encouraged us to think critically and never be afraid to ask questions. Her approach to teaching and her enthusiasm had a lasting impact on my educational journey.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs to be patient, understanding, and adaptable. Each student learns differently, so it's important to tailor your teaching methods to meet their individual needs. Additionally, being passionate about the subject and having a deep understanding of it helps in explaining concepts clearly and effectively. Good communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire students are also crucial
  • Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

During high school, I had a memorable experience with a math assignment that required solving a complex problem involving advanced algebra and geometry. Intrigued by the challenge, I decided to do extra research beyond our syllabus. I spent hours in the library and online, diving into fascinating mathematical theories and methods. The process of exploring and learning new concepts was incredibly rewarding, and I enjoyed every moment of it.
  • Did you face any difficulties at school or university?

Yes, I struggled with abstract algebra during my first year at university. The concepts were quite different from anything I had encountered before, and I found them difficult to grasp at first. I sought help from my professors and spent extra time practicing problems. Gradually, things started to click, and I gained a deeper understanding of the subject.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

Beyond teaching, I have a passion for playing guitar and making music. It's a great way to relax and express creativity. However, when it comes to my professional life, I am particularly passionate about calculus within mathematics. The elegance and power of calculus in describing and solving real-world problems fascinate me, and I love sharing this passion with my students.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

I believe what makes me a Superprof is my dedication to my students' success and my ability to make complex mathematical concepts accessible and enjoyable. I tailor my teaching methods to each student's learning style and ensure that they feel supported and motivated throughout their learning journey. My passion for mathematics and my commitment to continuous improvement in my teaching methods also set me apart.
