About Matty
I am a 23-year-old Psychology Graduate. I have been tutoring GCSE maths for over 5 years now, and really enjoy seeing my students grow in confidence. I would like to think of myself as a very versatile tutor, and so far all of my previous students achieve their target grade or higher. I have supported many students who feel uninspired by maths, helping them to regain their connection and enjoyment from the subject, inspiring a sense of self-motivation. Hopefully by delivering classes in a different and more engaging way to what they might be used to at school. I also have a great deal of experience working with students with SEN.

Everyone learns differently, so I think it is important to get to know the student well and their style of learning before we start teaching. Whilst I like to tailor each lesson to the individual student, I usually use the first few lessons to talk to the student and take some basic tests to help me to identify topics which we might need to focus on more. If desired, I usually set weekly homework to help the student practise the upcoming topic of our next class, which helps us to make the most of the time we have in the lesson. In the class we will then go over how the student felt the work went, and move on to more difficult questions in the same topic. Finally, we will use the end of the lesson to go over what we will cover in the next class, and go through the start of the next homework together, to ensure the student feels comfortable attempting it themselves.

Perfect! Matty has been brilliant since week 1. He's tutoring my son with GCSE Maths and it's going really well. He's kind, dynamic, fun and prepares engaging lessons. Matty identifies and focusses on weaker areas brilliantly. Can't quite believe my 15yr old son happily goes to maths lessons every week, without any moans, then comes home with very positive comments at the end each week! Brilliant work Matty!

Matty is a wonderful tutor helping my son to get the GCSE grades he needed. He built a great relationship with my son and kept me up to date with my sons progress.
