About Erna
I am a medical graduate who has experience teaching since I was in high school. Rest assured, I will make each session as interesting and engaging as possible because I believe learning should be a fun process. Students are welcome to ask me any questions during our session and parents can contact me offline to get updates on their children so as not to interrupt their children's study session. In my honest opinion, each child is meant to be successful. Just needs the right push and help.

My approach to teaching varies according to my students' level of mastery and age.
For primary and lower secondary school:
Maths & Science: Understanding the concept is key to mastering a particular topic. I use easily understood terms and examples to help students understand the concept which then further enforced by solving questions together. For effective learning, at least 2 sessions per week with each lasting for 1 hour would be ideal. Can be longer if requested.
English: Preferably there be 2 - 3 sessions in a week with each session lasting 1 - 1.5 hour (depends on students). Ample grammar practice questions and comprehension exercises will be done including learning a set of new words every week. Additionally, a session is dedicated to writing an essay on a given topic to polish students' writing skills.
For pre-k and kindergarten:
I try to make each session fun and engaging for the students and would give them exercises to enforce learning. The exercises and questions are given in increasing order of difficulty. Each session would last 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the students' and parents' request. Consistency is key for younger age children, so daily sessions (or just on weekdays) is preferable.
Students can ask me for homework help. Upon request, I can give homework and have mock tests as well. I will check them together with students online or I can do it offline so that we can discuss the answers during our next session.
