About Shreeya
Hi! I'm Shreeya, a second year medical student at the University of Oxford. I have been passionate about teaching since I was at school - I was always keen to help my peers when I could, and I have extended my skills further by tutoring professionally at Kumon. I believe every student is capable of doing well and I am always enthusiastic about helping them achieve this. Having recently achieved 5 A*s at A-level and straight 9s at GCSE, I understand the studying methods and exam techniques needed to achieve high grades in the current examination system.
I have experience tutoring Maths and English at Kumon.
I also have a valid enhanced DBS check.
Subjects tutored:
Science, English, French and Maths at KS3 level.
Biology, Chemistry, Maths and French at GCSE level.
Biology and French at A-level.
UCAT (I achieved 3300) and medical school application advice.
I would describe my teaching style as tailored, enthusiastic and multi-faceted. I recognise that different students respond better to different teaching methods, and I am always willing to adapt my teaching style as necessary - I believe that is the primary benefit of one-to-one tutoring. I also bring genuine enthusiasm for the subject to each lesson, with the aim of inspiring enthusiasm for learning in students too.
A typical lesson would last an hour, although this can be modified as necessary. It would begin with a brief recap of the previous lesson, or an assessment to identify weak areas. I then begin teaching the topics of the lesson in a way suited to the student, with focus on areas in which the student struggles. This would usually involve a mixture of multiple methods of teaching, incorporating various diagrams, pictures, and metaphors to enhance the student's understanding. My lesson would end with a short summary to check what the student has understood, and what could use more work. I would use this information to help me plan future lessons.
