About Jamie
I am a medical student at the University of Edinburgh going into my fifth year in August 2022. In my third year I undertook an intercalated degree in 'Bioethics, Law and Social Science' in which I achieved First Class honours and won a prize as the top student on the course. I also have an interest in academic research, having published papers in journals such as the 'Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia' and 'Humanities and Social Science Communications'.
I'm incredibly interested in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics which I have been lucky enough to pursue throughout both my studies and my research.
I went to school in Scotland and have experience of the SQA exam system, having achieved 8As at National 5, 5As at Higher and 3As at Advanced Higher level.

I teach online over Zoom. Lessons will focus on different aspects of medical applications.
Sessions looking at personal statements may involve giving students a good structure to follow as well as reading and editing the statement.
Sessions on the UCAT would look at each component of the exam in turn, focusing on establishing good exam technique which is critical in the highly time-pressured context of the exam. I place a great emphasis on active learning through practice questions following wider discussion of these techniques and tips.
Sessions focusing on interviews would consist of general advice as well as mock interviews to help students prepare for a variety of types of interviews - from traditional panels to MMIs, both of which I have experience of.
I am a medical student at the University of Edinburgh. I achieved a score of 3130 in my UKCAT, a score placing me well into the top decile of my cohort, and obtained offers following interviews at Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews and Aberdeen. I have previously successfully coached students through the interview process, and would be happy to offer my services to motivated students looking to apply for Medicine.
