About Melanie

I aim to make Tamil learning structured, enjoyable, and meaningful. I tailor each lesson to the student’s goals, focusing on clear explanations, consistent practice, and real understanding rather than rote learning. My teaching combines grammar, comprehension, and writing exercises with interactive discussions and conversational Tamil, helping students build both fluency and confidence. Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, with optional 90-minute sessions for deeper exam preparation or advanced topics. With 2 years of tutoring experience and IB-level Tamil teaching background, I provide a calm, encouraging learning environment that supports steady progress and lasting results. I primarily teach PSLE and early secondary students, as well as beginners and non-native speakers seeking to strengthen their Tamil skills in both academic and practical contexts.

My approach to teaching Tamil focuses on building a strong foundation in language skills while making each lesson engaging and relevant. I combine structured academic learning with practical communication exercises to help students gain confidence in reading, writing, and speaking Tamil. Teaching Techniques & Methodology: I use a blend of interactive discussions, vocabulary games, and writing practice to make lessons dynamic. For younger learners, I incorporate short stories and visual aids to make learning enjoyable. For older students, I emphasize comprehension strategies, essay writing, and grammar mastery aligned with their school syllabus or IB standards. I regularly assess progress through mini quizzes and constructive feedback to ensure consistent improvement. Lesson Length: A typical session lasts 60 minutes, with flexible pacing depending on the student’s needs and attention span. I also offer 90-minute sessions for students preparing for exams or seeking deeper focus on specific skills. Qualifications & Experience: I am an MBBS graduate with 2 years of Tamil tutoring experience, including teaching up to the IB (International Baccalaureate) level. My academic background enables me to teach with clarity, structure, and strong mentoring skills. Who My Lessons Are For: I primarily teach PSLE and early secondary school students, as well as beginners and non-native speakers who wish to improve their conversational or academic Tamil skills.
